San Diego Hot Chocolate 15k
3.22.15
Chocolate and running…two of my favorite things! This race probably had the coolest swag bags & post race treats I’ve ever seen. At the expo on packet pickup day they had a hot chocolate station with marshmallows and so much other yumminess! We even got cozy hoodies! The goods did not stop there. On race day they actually fed us marshmallows and pieces of chocolate at the pit stops. I didn’t eat during because I wasn’t sure how my tummy would react to so much sugar during a long run. (You should never experiment with new food or running gear pre/race day!) I ran the 15k portion in gorgeous San Diego, CA, there was a 5k option as well. At the finish line we got huge medals shaped as chocolate bars, awesome mugs that had hot cocoa, chocolate fondue, and treats to dip in it! After 9 miles you can pretty much eat anything. No regrets!

California 10/20
2.15.15
This race was a HUGE accomplishment for me. I had only ever done 7 miles at the most before this race. The race is unique because it is 10 miles long with 20 bands (a different band at every ½ mile point). Talk about much needed entertainment when you’re running for that long. It started in Del Mar (north of San Diego, CA), to Solana Beach, to Encinitas and back. This was hands down the prettiest race I’ve ever ran. We ran right up the coast by the ocean. So beautiful! It was very long and my legs definitely felt it after. I bought compression leggings the day before! We were motivated to move fast so we could get back to the hotel before they stopped serving breakfast! Gotta do what you gotta do. Later that night my parents and I celebrated the run & Valentines Day weekend together with a yummy steak dinner.
