What better way to celebrate the amazing & beautiful city of Los Angeles than to run allover it?! On LA's 234th birthday, I along with a bunch of runners hit the streets of LA to celebrate. The 5k was organized by the run group BlackListLA.

I'm so impressed by how organized the race was, a lot better than some bigger races I've been to in the past! They had packet pick-up the weekend before where we got an awesome tee, our bibs, and samples. That's my race day outfit pictured above! I love my hot pink Asics, they've always been my go-to running shoe brand. The medals are super cute too!

The race started in La Plaza de Olvera right by DTLA. When you got there you could feel the energy & excitement! There was a really good dj, vendors, bib pick up, and even a big flashing LA sign to take photos by. It was so fun to unite run groups from allover LA to run in our City of Angels.

This is my friend Robert & I! He's super fun to run with and keeps a great pace so I always stick with him. I wear these hot pink calf sleeves by Zensah for most of my runs. I get pretty tight in my calves first, so they definitely make a difference. I'm usually not sore the next day so I definitely recommend them! (makes it easy to find myself in pictures too!)

BlackList always takes the best photos at their runs. They post them the next day on the dropbox for free! Check out this link for all the race photos!

5ks are an awesome way to push yourself if you're used to longer distances because they do not feel as long! I'm not really a competitive person and it's not my goal to be the fastest, but when you do PR it is a huge accomplishment (personal record). When you put the idea of beating someone or being the fastest aside, you end up surprising yourself! Enjoy every step of the run! I PRd last night hitting around 8'15" average mile pace according to my Nike running app. Our race results were emailed to us as soon as we finished. I love that they did this! I'm so proud of myself to come in 3rd for my age group and 19 out of the 196 females. My friend Janell aka Sweat Talk came in as one of the top women. She's lightning fast - major fitspiration!

Amazing workout, good music, fun people, free snacks, done before 9pm. This is my type of Friday night over the bar & clubs any day. Thank you to everyone who organized such a fun race! I will defintely be doing this one next year.

In LOVE & Sweat,

Lexi
